The year 1992 was when Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage in Alaska at the University of Alaska Pacific. Bossard launched her professional career in the field of commercial seafood worker in the year 1999. Bossard began working with the ship F/V Sunset an a65' halibut-schooner that was turned into a salmon tender for Murat Aritan, who had been working in commercial fishing since. Bossard married Aritan in 1999, and the two have joined to defend their businesses. Both of them are the direction of preserving resources and optimizing the profits. Otolith was created in Philadelphia through Bella Bossard, now mother to two kids aged 3 and 1, Bossard. The name of the company is a loving reminder of her intimate understanding of fish biology and her husband's long connection in the seafood industry often leaving them separated for five months or more at a time as they work towards economic and environmental objectives that reflect both their independence and determination to serve their communities wherever they live. Bossard together with Isabella Andre and Isabella Andre (ages 10 and 12 respectively) are back each year, from July to August, to Southeast Alaska for the summer catch of salmon wild. Following two years of fishing using hooks along with lines and a 42-foot salmon trolling machine they have joined Aritan and were sold to local seafood processors.
